Putting it together
- Make 12 Crown of Thorns blocks, 10" finished (10½" with seam allowance). That takes 192 half-square triangles.
- Sew 4 rows of 3 blocks with a sashing strip between the blocks and at both ends. Sew 5 sashing rows of 3 strips and 4 cornerstones. Join the rows, starting and ending with a sashing row.
- Add the 4" border: measure through the middle of the quilt, sew strips to the sides first, then to the top and bottom.
- Layer the backing (54" × 66"), batting and top, quilt, and trim. Join the binding strips end to end, press them in half lengthwise and sew to the front.
