LeMoyne Star quilt pattern

Cutting

• Background: Cut 5 strips 4⅛" × WOF. Subcut 48 squares 4⅛" for the corner squares. Cut 2 strips 6¼" × WOF. Subcut 12 squares 6¼" for the side triangles, cut twice on the diagonal.
• Main, Border: Cut 8 strips 3" × WOF. Cut 48 pieces from LeMoyne Star template A. Cut 6 strips 4½" × WOF. Join end to end. Cut 2 at 58½" and 2 at 52½".
• Centers, Cornerstones, Binding: Cut 8 strips 3" × WOF. Cut 48 pieces from LeMoyne Star template A. Cut 2 strips 2½" × WOF. Subcut 20 squares 2½". Cut 6 strips 2½" × WOF. Join into one 248" strip.
• Sashing: Cut 2 strips 12½" × WOF. Subcut 31 strips 2½" × 12½".

Putting it together

1. Make 12 LeMoyne Star blocks, 12" finished (12½" with seam allowance). That takes 12 LeMoyne Star blocks.
2. Sew 4 rows of 3 blocks with a sashing strip between the blocks and at both ends. Sew 5 sashing rows of 3 strips and 4 cornerstones. Join the rows, starting and ending with a sashing row.
3. Add the 4" border: measure through the middle of the quilt, sew strips to the sides first, then to the top and bottom.
4. Layer the backing (60" × 74"), batting and top, quilt, and trim. Join the binding strips end to end, press them in half lengthwise and sew to the front.

Cutting

• Background: Cut 7 strips 4⅛" × WOF. Subcut 64 squares 4⅛" for the corner squares. Cut 3 strips 6¼" × WOF. Subcut 16 squares 6¼" for the side triangles, cut twice on the diagonal.
• Main, Border: Cut 11 strips 3" × WOF. Cut 64 pieces from LeMoyne Star template A. Cut 6 strips 4½" × WOF. Join end to end. Cut 2 at 58½" and 2 at 66½".
• Centers, Cornerstones, Binding: Cut 11 strips 3" × WOF. Cut 64 pieces from LeMoyne Star template A. Cut 2 strips 2½" × WOF. Subcut 25 squares 2½". Cut 7 strips 2½" × WOF. Join into one 276" strip.
• Sashing: Cut 3 strips 12½" × WOF. Subcut 40 strips 2½" × 12½".

Putting it together

1. Make 16 LeMoyne Star blocks, 12" finished (12½" with seam allowance). That takes 16 LeMoyne Star blocks.
2. Sew 4 rows of 4 blocks with a sashing strip between the blocks and at both ends. Sew 5 sashing rows of 4 strips and 5 cornerstones. Join the rows, starting and ending with a sashing row.
3. Add the 4" border: measure through the middle of the quilt, sew strips to the sides first, then to the top and bottom.
4. Layer the backing (74" × 74"), batting and top, quilt, and trim. Join the binding strips end to end, press them in half lengthwise and sew to the front.

• Centers, Cornerstones, Binding: Cut 16 strips 3" × WOF. Cut 96 pieces from LeMoyne Star template A. Cut 3 strips 2½" × WOF. Subcut 35 squares 2½". Cut 8 strips 2½" × WOF. Join into one 332" strip.
• Sashing: Cut 4 strips 12½" × WOF. Subcut 58 strips 2½" × 12½".

Putting it together

1. Make 24 LeMoyne Star blocks, 12" finished (12½" with seam allowance). That takes 24 LeMoyne Star blocks.
2. Sew 6 rows of 4 blocks with a sashing strip between the blocks and at both ends. Sew 7 sashing rows of 4 strips and 5 cornerstones. Join the rows, starting and ending with a sashing row.
3. Add the 4" border: measure through the middle of the quilt, sew strips to the sides first, then to the top and bottom.
4. Layer the backing (74" × 102"), batting and top, quilt, and trim. Join the binding strips end to end, press them in half lengthwise and sew to the front.

• Sashing: Cut 7 strips 12½" × WOF. Subcut 97 strips 2½" × 12½".

• Sashing: Cut 7 strips 12½" × WOF. Subcut 112 strips 2½" × 12½".
