Economy quilt block
A center square with two rounds of triangles. The first round turns it on point and the second squares it up again. The center is half the width of the block.
The Economy is pieced on a 4 × 4 grid, so a 12" block has 3" grid squares.

How to sew a 12" Economy block
Cut the 5⅛" squares once on the diagonal. Sew a triangle to two opposite sides of the 6½" center square, press, then to the other two sides. Trim to 9" if needed, keeping ¼" past the points.
Cut the 6⅞" squares once on the diagonal and sew them to the four sides the same way. Trim to 12½" square.
