Throw quilt size
A throw quilt is 60" × 72". A throw is sized for a sofa or a lap rather than a bed. 60" × 72" covers one adult from shoulders to feet; quilts from 50" × 60" to 60" × 80" are all sold as throws or lap quilts.

Blocks for a 60" × 72" quilt
Blocks keep their size and the count changes, so the quilt lands near 60" × 72" rather than on it. Each row is worked out with a 4" border; the second column adds 2" sashing between the blocks.
