Twin size quilt dimensions

A twin quilt is 70" × 90". A twin mattress is 38" × 75", so this size hangs 16" over each side and 15" over the foot.

A twin mattress is narrow, so most of a twin quilt is drop. On a daybed or a bunk bed that sits against a wall, many quilters make it 60" wide so it hangs only on the open side.

Twin quilt sizes for a longer or shorter drop

The drop is how far the quilt hangs past the mattress. Measure from the top of your mattress down to where you want the quilt to stop; most mattresses today are 10" to 14" deep. Add the drop to both sides for the width and once for the length, then add 10" if the quilt should tuck over the pillows.

Blocks for a 70" × 90" quilt

Blocks keep their size and the count changes, so the quilt lands near 70" × 90" rather than on it. Each row is worked out with a 4" border; the second column adds 2" sashing between the blocks.
