Twin XL quilt size
A twin xl quilt is 70" × 95". A twin xl mattress is 38" × 80", so this size hangs 16" over each side and 15" over the foot.
A Twin XL mattress is 5" longer than a twin and the same width. It is the usual college dorm bed, so the quilt is a twin made 5" longer.

Twin XL quilt sizes for a longer or shorter drop
The drop is how far the quilt hangs past the mattress. Measure from the top of your mattress down to where you want the quilt to stop; most mattresses today are 10" to 14" deep. Add the drop to both sides for the width and once for the length, then add 10" if the quilt should tuck over the pillows.
| Drop | Quilt size | With a 10" pillow tuck |
|---|---|---|
| 10" | 58" × 90" | 58" × 100" |
| 12" | 62" × 92" | 62" × 102" |
| 15" | 68" × 95" | 68" × 105" |
| 18" | 74" × 98" | 74" × 108" |
| 21" | 80" × 101" | 80" × 111" |
Blocks for a 70" × 95" quilt
Blocks keep their size and the count changes, so the quilt lands near 70" × 95" rather than on it. Each row is worked out with a 4" border; the second column adds 2" sashing between the blocks.
